The focus of this year's special show at the 47th Art Cologne 2013, exhibiting work by students and graduates of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) under the title My Eyes Hurt, is the moving image. Contemporary video art, experimental film work and other time-based media often don't have an easy time of it with the public, as they can hardly be accessed or read by means of a quick glance. On the other hand, our current everyday viewing habits are much more strongly influenced by moving than by static images. My Eyes Hurt encourages overtaxing, negates exhaustion and demands complete attention.

The spectrum of the exhibited work ranges from the performance-based investigation of the process of crossing boundaries (Eka Bibileishvili), the collection, compilation and processing of found footage (Henning Frederik Malz, Benjamin Ramirez-Perez, Lia Sudermann) via video tutorials (Bastian Hoffmann) and suggestive narratives (Lena Ditte Nissen) to conceptual works (Michael Heym) and documentary approaches (Heidi Pfohl, Nico Joan Weber). The show is curated by Heike Ander.

The Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) has been a regular guest exhibitor at Art Cologne since 1997.
